The Collectibles Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso (1933)
Introduced to coincide with the brands’ 190 years of manufacture, Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer Jaeger-Lecoultre has announced the launch of the Collectibles, a new programme dedicated to watch collectors and enthusiasts who wish to get their hands on a piece of history.
The meticulously curated collection consists of rare and sought-after timepieces, which represents both the best of Jaeger-LeCoultre and 20th century watchmaking. In a recent statement, CEO Catherine Rénier announced: “This new programme presents a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of the Manufacture’s history.”
With the request for emblematic Jaeger-LeCoultre models on the rise, the new initiative will see a continually-evolving selection of timepieces made available to buy through the Collectibles on jaeger-lecoultre.com and in the form of capsule collections that will travel around the world. Among the first collectibles to be offered are fine examples of 1933 Reverso, a 1969 Shark Deep Sea, as well as a 1951 Powermatic. Each timepiece comes with an extract from the Jaeger-LeCoultre archives, a new strap and a complimentary copy of The Collectibles coffee-table book.
The book, which covers the period from 1925 to 1974, provides indispensable data for collectors, including the evolution of the modern mechanical watch over the course of half a century and background stories.
The beauty of the collectibles offering however, lies in thorough vetting carried out by historical experts, meaning you are safe in the knowledge that your acquisition has been fully serviced and restored in the Manufacture’s restoration workshop.
“Being able to restore these remarkable timepieces and offer them once again is a nice tribute to our current environment, in which sustainability and second lives have come to the fore,” says Catherine Rénier. “It is fantastic to see 50- or 80-year-old pieces given a new life. For me, that symbolises the beauty of our world – of timeless and durable objects to be passed from one generation to the next.”
