Goodwood Members’ meeting 2022: What to expect
The grandstands are assembled, the paddocks are waiting and the anticipation is building with the Goodwood Motor Circuit set to come alive this weekend, as the 79th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport opens Goodwood’s biggest-ever events season.
Held in East Sussex the exclusive event, available only to members of the Goodwood Road Racing club, will see a spectacular line-up of cars and events. Here is what to expect:
New Races
This year’s members’ meeting will see two new races added to the calendar. This means that guests will not only catch their returning favourites, such as the Gerry Marshall Trophy and a new format of the Hailwood Trophy, but they will also witness the inaugural of both the A.F.P Fane and Robert Brooks Trophies.
Robert Brooks Trophy
Named in honour of Members’ Meeting stalwart and original Governor of the modern meetings, this race recreates the enthusiastically supported club races of the Motor Circuit’s heyday, honouring a true racer in typical Goodwood style. Lotus Elevens, Cooper T49s, Lola Mk1s and more will take to the grid and thrill the crowds in this very special race.
A.F.P Fane Trophy
Named after legendary Frazer Nash racer Alfred Fane Peers Agabeg, better known as A.F.P Fane, this one-off race celebrates one of Britain’s oldest and most iconic brands with a grid full of chain-driven Super Sports, Shelsley Single-Seaters, racing specials and more.
The sound of speed
For this 79th edition, Goodwood celebrates the era of the V10 with 20 exceptional Grand Prix cars, from 1989 to 2005. These mighty machines are expected to take to track giving visitors an unforgettable visual and auditory spectacle. The opportunity for many to reminisce over the 90’s soundtrack of the Formula 1’s V8, V10 and V12 engines or exchange a smile with the star drivers of the V10 era who will be reunited with cars from their careers.
Porsche’s legendary 956 and 962
The 80s were the golden years for Porsche, who achieved near total domination by securing a winning streak at Le Mans with victories in 1982, ’83, ’84 and ’85 with the 956. The luck perpetuated in ’86 and ’87 with the Porsche 962. Marking 40 years since the 956’s first Le Mans win, the organisation decided to celebrate the benchmark with a unique demonstration as the sun sets emulating the setting of the Circuit de la Sarthe.

First ever tandem drift at 79MM
This year’s members meeting will not only see new races on the agenda but also the very first demonstration of tandem drifting. With 6 drivers already confirmed to take part, including triple Formula Drift champion James Deane, the debut of drifting will consist of pairings drifting a full lap around the circuit in tandem to demonstrate their art.
